MISSION Awards win

Mission ABC team with Quit4Life take home top awards

A local healthcare team have scooped two top awards for their dedication to making a lasting difference for both patients and NHS staff.

Mission ABC (improving the lives of patients with Asthma, Breathlessness and COPD), partnering with Quit4Life (the Hampshire stop smoking service) and other local healthcare services, won the ‘Leading Service Improvement and Innovation’ award at the NHS Thames Valley and Wessex Leadership Academy Recognition Awards 2017.

Mission ABC worked alongside Quit4Life, physiotherapy, dieticians and other local services to deliver rapid access, diagnosis, therapies and treatment plans for patients suffering with respiratory diseases. The aim of the partnership is to improve quality of life, reduce hospital admissions and ensure correct treatments are delivered locally to those most at risk.

This award honoured those behind the service improvement/innovation that have made a real or lasting difference to patients, staff and healthcare, whilst being exemplary in leading a service innovation which has seen a positive, sustainable change and impact on the outcomes for all.

The Mission ABC team and partners also won ‘Team Outstanding Achievement – Clinical’ for exceptional team work and continuous development to bring about successful improvements in health and social care.

Erica Course, Quit4Life’s Programme Manager for Inequalities, attended the award ceremony on 2nd March and said: “I was delighted to represent Quit4life as a part of the Mission ABC team. It was a wonderful day filled with inspiring people. Congratulations to everyone nominated – I can tell it was a difficult choice – but Mission ABC for me represents all the positives of inclusive working and I couldn’t be prouder of them and the work we do. Thank you, Mission ABC!”

Ginny Taylor, Head of Children and Family Services at Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, said: “This award is a great recognition of the work our Quit4Life team do within the community; Mission ABC shows how a real partnership can support some of our most vulnerable people and help them to improve their health. I am really proud of the team and the work that they do.”

Mission ABC’s Professor Anoop Chauhan also won the ‘Inspiring leader’ award.

The NHS Thames Valley and Wessex Leadership Academy Recognition Awards 2017 is an annual event delivered in Partnership with NHS Leadership Academy.
